Settings - Running Log Utility

Overview

The Running Log Utility is where a vessel's Running Log structure is configured, the Groups, Subgroups/Equipment, and individual Readings that crew see and complete when filling out the Running Log. This utility only configures the structure; the actual logged data is entered separately, in the Running Logs module.

Required Permissions

• Application Administrator must be enabled on your user account to access this utility.

Getting There

1. From the navigation menu, expand Settings.

2. Select Running Log Utility.

Adding Readings

Every reading in the Running Log belongs to a three-level structure:

Group (e.g. Propulsion) → Subgroup/Equipment (e.g. Main Engine SB) → Reading (e.g. Hours, RPM, Fuel Pressure).

All three paths below open the same Define Reading form. Which button you click depends on what already exists — this determines how much of the form is pre-filled and locked for you.

Creating a New Group

Use this only when the Group doesn't exist yet.

1. Click + ADD in the top toolbar.

2. Enter a new name into Group Heading.

3. Enter a new name into Subgroup/Equipment — or click the gear icon next to this field to link an actual piece of equipment from the vessel's Equipment records via the Equipment Picker instead.

4. Complete the Reading fields (see below) and click Create.

Creating a New Subgroup/Equipment

Use this when the Group already exists but you need another Subgroup within it.

1. Click the + icon on the Group's row in the tree. Group Heading will already be filled in and locked.

2. Enter a new name into Subgroup/Equipment — or use the Equipment Picker as above.

3. Complete the Reading fields (see below) and click Create.

Adding a Reading

Use this when both the Group and Subgroup already exist and you just need to add another Reading.

1. Expand the Group in the tree and click the + icon on the Subgroup's row. Group Heading and Subgroup/Equipment will already be filled in and locked.

2. Complete the Reading fields (see below) and click Create.

Configure the Reading

Whichever path you used above, complete the Reading section of the form:

• Reading Name

• Reading Type - select the type of value this reading will capture, e.g. Numeric.

• Numeric Readings have additional fields: Unit of Measure, Decimal Places, and Upper/Lower Thresholds.

• Monitoring System Tag if the reading should auto-populate from the AMCS monitoring system.

Reordering

Every row in the tree, Groups, Subgroups, and Readings, has an up & down arrow.

1. Locate the item you want to move.

2. Click the up arrow or the down arrow to move it.

Edit & Delete

Editing a Group

To edit a Group Name;

1. Click the pencil icon on the desired Group.

2. Update the Name.

3. Click Save.

Editing a Reading

1. Click the pencil icon on the desired Reading.

2. The Define Reading form opens.

3. Make the required changes.

4. Click Save.

Deleting a Reading

1. Click the trash icon on the Reading's row.

2. Follow the prompts to delete the reading.

Export Reading History

Export the full recorded history for one or more readings to an Excel file, each selected reading gets its own worksheet containing all of its historical values.

1. Click EXPORT HISTORY in the top toolbar.

2. Tick the checkbox next to each reading you want to export, you can select multiple readings across different groups.

3. Click Export to download the file.

Test AMCS Polling

Click TEST POLL AMCS in the top toolbar to Poll the AMCS monitoring system, verifying that the Monitoring System Tags configured on your readings return the correct data.

Trending

Click TRENDING in the top toolbar to open the Running Log Trending page, where you can trend historical reading data over time.
